All About Me In 30 Days – Day 1

Day 1 – My Favorite Song

I really would have a hard time narrowing down just ONE song that is my favorite. There are songs that touch me at different times for any number of reasons and then when I hear them, they will bring a flood of memories back, either good or bad.

A few good examples would be Supertramp‘s “Take The Long Way Home” which was popular when I was 16 and in a maternity home, pregnant and unmarried.  My boyfriend and baby’s daddy would come up to see me every weekend and that song is a big reminder of that time.  The hymn, “How Great Thou Art” is a favorite and it was played at my grandfather’s funeral and that always brings back memories of him and tears.  Jason Derulo‘s “Ridin Solo” was getting a lot of air time about the time my divorce was final and fit me well so it has a special spot with me.

But one song in particular that has been on my favorite list since 2006 is Rascal Flatts “Stand”.  I love this song, it is timeless and it was a huge help getting through the pain the past 9 months.  For a while it was my out going and incoming ring tone on my phone.

Stand ~ Rascal Flatts

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you’ve lost your fight
But you’ll be alright, you’ll be alright

[Chorus:]
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you’re made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, Then you stand

Life’s like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you’re given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on

[Repeat Chorus]

Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place
Oh

[Repeat Chorus]
